Services and Fees
Typical sessions run 45–50 minutes. For anyone who needs more time, and for couples and families, we use a longer 70–75 minute session, which we've found works best.
Sessions are offered in person in Los Gatos and by video anywhere in California.
Free phone consultation
A short call to answer your questions and see whether the therapist is the right fit for you.
Individual or child session
Our standard session length for individual and child therapy.
Couples session
A standard-length session for couples.
Extended individual, family or couples session
For anyone needing more time, and for couples and families — we've found this length to be the most effective.
Group therapy
Therapist-led groups. Availability and format vary, so please get in touch to hear what's running.
Executive function tutoring
Practical coaching in organisation, planning, focus and follow-through.
Payment
Full payment is collected at the beginning of each session. We accept Visa, Mastercard, HSA/FSA debit cards, cash, and checks made payable to Ascending Therapy.
Insurance
We do not accept insurance directly.
Each month you'll receive an invoice (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Whether you're reimbursed, and how much, is determined by your insurer.
Please contact your insurance company before you begin so you know what to expect. Ask specifically about your out-of-network benefits for a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of California, and about:
- whether out-of-network mental health care is covered at all
- how many sessions they'll cover
- their rate of reimbursement per session
- how much of a deductible you need to meet first
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to request a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before scheduling. Just ask, at any point.
Cancellation policy
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, and missed appointments, are charged the full session fee.
